Ghanaian winger Emmanuel Mensah made an impressive debut for Norwegian club Sogndal IL, scoring in a 4-1 away defeat to Raufoss in the OBOS-ligaen on Monday.

The 19-year-old, who played the full 90 minutes, was a standout performer despite Sogndal’s heavy loss in their Round 21 fixture.

Raufoss’s Sander Nordbo and Erlend Hustad were the stars of the match, each netting two goals. Nordbo opened the scoring just ten minutes into the game, followed by Hustad, who doubled Raufoss’s lead.

Mensah showcased his skills by scoring Sogndal’s lone goal in the 67th minute, providing a moment of hope for his side. However, Raufoss responded with two more goals—Hustad in the 76th minute and Nordbo in the 88th—to seal their victory.

Despite the defeat, Mensah’s performance was a bright spot, demonstrating his potential and marking a promising start to his tenure in Norwegian football. He recently signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with Sogndal IL, extending his stay until 2027 after transferring from Ghanaian Division One League side Koforidua Semper Fi.

Mensah, who was part of Ghana’s U20 team that won gold at the African Games in Accra in March, will look to continue his development and impact in the Norwegian lower-tier league this season.
