The Ghana Premier League clash between Basake Holy Stars and Bechem United took an unexpected turn on Thursday, as Bechem failed to show up at the Ampain Sports Arena for their scheduled fixture.
Bechem’s troubles began on Wednesday when their team bus broke down, leaving the players and officials stranded. Despite efforts to repair the vehicle, all attempts were unsuccessful, leading to a series of logistical challenges for the club.
The festive season further complicated the situation, as the team struggled to secure an alternative mode of transportation due to the unavailability of buses. In response, Bechem United informed the Ghana Football Association (GFA) of their predicament and provided receipts for their hotel reservations as proof of their intent to honor the match under normal circumstances.
The club appealed to the GFA for a postponement, hoping for leniency due to the unforeseen circumstances. However, the GFA insisted that the match must proceed as scheduled, despite Bechem’s difficulties.
As a result, Basake Holy Stars and the match officials showed up at the Ampain Sports Arena, awaiting the arrival of their opponents. With Bechem United unable to attend, the Ghana Premier League regulations dictate that Holy Stars will be awarded a 3-0 victory, securing both three points and three goals.
