Debibi United recorded their first-ever Ghana Premier League victory on Sunday after defeating Young Apostles 3-0 at the Debibi Presby Park.
The hosts made a blistering start to the derby, taking the lead just four minutes into the game through Kwadwo Obeng Jnr.
Obeng Jnr doubled Debibi United’s advantage in the 34th minute before the home side added a third goal before the break to take complete control of the encounter.
Heavy rainfall delayed the restart, but Young Apostles struggled to find a way back into the match after play resumed.
Samuel Prempeh came close to reducing the deficit on two occasions, with his first effort narrowly missing the target before his second attempt struck the crossbar.
Debibi United held on comfortably to secure a landmark three points and provide the response coach Isaac Nii Armah was looking for following their defeat to Swedru All Blacks last weekend.
For Young Apostles, the defeat prevented them from building on their opening home victory over Basake Holy Stars.
Debibi United will next travel to face fellow newcomers FC Ashantigold, while Young Apostles will host Heart of Lions.
