Accra Lions’ head coach, Ibrahim Tanko, expressed his disappointment on Monday evening following his team’s 3-0 loss to Great Olympics in the Ghana Premier League.

In a Round 5 encounter of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season, Great Olympics scored three goals in the first 20 minutes, securing a well-deserved victory at the end of the 90 minutes.

During his post-match interview, Coach Ibrahim Tanko of Accra Lions admitted that his team’s performance was subpar. While he argued that mistakes contributed to his team’s defeat, he acknowledged that Great Olympics played well and earned the victory.

“Our performance was very poor. We had a terrible first half, and two mistakes handed them the game. It’s very painful, but they deserved to win,” Coach Ibrahim Tanko stated.

He further expressed concern about his team’s defense and emphasized the need for continued training to improve. Nonetheless, he acknowledged that Great Olympics deserved the win.

“I’m very worried about our defense but I mean I know we have to train for it. We have to keep on training for it and hope everything will be fine. Regardless, as I said Olympics deserved the win.”

Despite the defeat, Coach Ibrahim Tanko remains confident that his team will bounce back to winning ways in the next matchday.
