King Faisal bankroller, Alhaji Grusah, has voiced his disappointment over the absence of Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku during the Black Stars’ critical 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Sudan.
In a fiery interview, Grusah questioned Okraku’s decision to travel to Germany to watch the Ghana U-20 team instead of supporting the senior national team in their pivotal AFCON qualifying match. He expressed frustration, stressing that Okraku should have been with the Black Stars to motivate them ahead of such an important game.
“This was a big match to qualify for AFCON, and the leader of Ghana football, who should have been with the team to encourage them, wasn’t there. He should have told them, ‘Let bygones be bygones, let’s do this and raise the flag of Ghana high.’ But instead, he left to sell players,” Grusah remarked in an interview with Peace FM.
Ghana’s 2-0 defeat to Sudan has placed their AFCON qualification hopes in jeopardy. Goals from Ahmed Hamed Mahmoud and Mohammed Abdelrahman secured victory for the Sudanese, leaving Ghana stuck on two points in Group F. Meanwhile, Sudan has strengthened their bid for qualification, sitting comfortably with seven points.
