Former Black Stars midfielder Michael Essien has lavished praise on Nico Williams, describing his performance in the 2024 Euro final as “amazing”.
Essien was left in awe of the qualities the Spanish-born Ghanaian displayed in the final on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at the Olympiastadion in Berlin, Germany.
“He was amazing, amazing. I mean, as a young player, turning up in this big game, scoring for your country, what more can I say? He has been fantastic,” Essien told Sporty TV.
Nico Williams played a crucial role in Spain’s triumph, scoring in the 2-1 final win and earning the man-of-the-match award, his second of the tournament.
He ended the tournament with two goals and two man-of-the-match awards.
