Hearts of Oak defeated Asante Kotoko by 2-1 to win the 2022 GHALCA President’s Cup on Friday night at the Accra sports stadium.

Afriyie Barnie opened the scoring in the 50th minute before Samuel Boateng came off the bench to equalize for Kotoko in the 67th.

Substitute Patrick Razak clinched the winner for the Phobians in stoppage time ( 90+2).

The game was watched by H.E Nana Akufo – Addo and a host of other dignitaries including the Youth and Sports minister Ho. Mustapha Yussif and GFA President Kurt Okraku.

Before Friday’s Super Clash, the Ghana Premier League standings after Week 18 had Hearts of Oak at the 7th position on 26 points in 18 games and Kotoko at the summit on 40 points.

There is a gap of 14 massive points  between the two clubs in the league this season indicating the poor form of the Ghana champions.

But Hearts of Oak of Samuel Boadu have proven that when it comes to games against Kotoko they are the best.

From the start of last season, Hearts of Oak are unbeaten against Kotoko in four matches across all events. The Phobians won the double of the league and the FA Cup last season and have just added another trophy to their collections on Friday even if it is a minor cup.
