Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara has expressed contentment with his team’s performance in Sunday’s goalless draw against arch-rivals Asante Kotoko, stating that the result was a fair outcome despite missed opportunities.
The two giants of Ghanaian football played out a tense 0-0 stalemate at the Accra Sports Stadium, with both teams unable to find the finishing touch. Speaking after the match, Ouattara admitted that while he had hoped for a win, he was satisfied with the point earned.
“I’ll take the draw. We came to win, but it’s a fair result,” the coach said. “I learnt a lot from this game and will discuss it with the boys. What didn’t work was our inability to score.”
Hearts looked more dangerous in the second half, creating a number of chances, but failed to convert any of them. Their finishing let them down, allowing Kotoko to leave the capital with a point.
Despite the result keeping Hearts in sixth place and slightly off the pace in the title race, Ouattara is not ruling his side out of the competition.
“The league will be tough, but we’ll keep fighting — top four, top two, or even the title. We’re not giving up,” he declared with optimism.
Hearts of Oak now look ahead to the remaining fixtures, determined to build on their performance and climb further up the league table.
