Ghana Premier League ggiant Accra Hearts of Oak SC legend, Charles Taylor is not impressed with the performance of Daniel Afriyie Barnieh.
The former Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC player believes the Black Meteors captain has become swollen headed after successes on the local scene and at the junior national team levels.
Taylor says the dip in form of Barnieh can be blamed on his past achievements. According to him, the forward lacks the zeal to play these days due to his past satisfaction.
“Sometimes, when you achieve that much, the urge to go for more drops. That is the situation of Afriyie-Barnieh.”
“He is now complacent due to past achievements and has taken everything lightly. But you cannot succeed with such an attitude in football. If you grow complacent in football you will end up disgraced.”
Barnieh was substituted in the game against Congo Brazzaville and the player who took his place, Emmanuel Yeboah scored brace for the team and set up another.
Ghana on Tuesday evening will face Morocco in the second game of the competition at 8pm.
