Solomon Safo-Taylor, the forward for Asante Kotoko, has attributed their disappointing performance in the recently concluded 2022/23 Ghana Premier League to the low attendance of games by their fans.
The club’s fans expressed their dissatisfaction by noticeably reducing their presence even during home games.
According to Safo-Taylor, this had a negative impact on the team’s performance.
“Some people say that Kotoko was better in previous years compared to now, but I don’t see it that way. If you look at Leicester City in the English Premier League, even when they were not winning, their fans still filled the stadium to support them. As players, we give our best when the fans are in the stands,” he explained during an interview with Kessben Sports.
The Porcupine Warriors were unable to defend their Premier League title and finished the season in 4th position with 52 points.
