Hearts of Oak head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, has shifted his focus to winning the Ghana Premier League following the team’s early exit from the FA Cup.
The Phobians were eliminated in the Round of 16 after a 4-3 penalty shootout defeat to lower-tier side Golden Kick FC over the weekend. With their FA Cup hopes dashed, Ouattara is now determined to guide the team to league glory.
“My target for Hearts of Oak is to get the trophy from the national side (league title) and go to Africa and achieve some glorious name and go forward. That’s my focus,” he told Asempa FM.
He emphasized that securing the league title is crucial for competing at the continental level. “To go to Africa, you need to win the league in Ghana. We need to work on that and go forward,” he added.
After 19 matches in the Ghana Premier League, Hearts of Oak sit fourth on the table with 33 points. The league is set to resume on March 1.
