Sophia Nanka-Bruce, the wife of the late Cecil Jones Attuquayefio, has made an appeal to Hearts of Oak, urging them to honor her deceased husband by naming one of their prominent structures after him.
Cecil Jones Attuquayefio, a former head coach of Hearts of Oak, left an indelible mark in the club’s history by leading them to two significant African titles—the 2000 CAF Champions League and the inaugural CAF Confederation Cup in 2004.
His impact extended to domestic competitions as well, with five Ghana Premier League titles won during his tenure with Accra Hearts Oak in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2004/2005.
Sir Cecil Jones Attuquayefio passed away eight years ago after battling a long illness, and his wife believes that he has been somewhat neglected by the Phobians.
She expressed her wish for Hearts of Oak to commemorate her late husband’s legacy by naming one of their structures after him, ensuring that future generations recognize his contributions.
During an interview with Angel Sports, Sophia Nanka Bruce stated, “We have been neglected, but our wish is for Hearts of Oak to name an edifice after my late husband for future generations.”
