Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum, has responded to growing allegations that the current Black Stars players lack commitment to the national team.
In an interview with Akoma FM, Asante Twum expressed disbelief over such claims, despite being shocked by the team’s lackluster performance in their recent 1-1 draw with Niger during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
“I do not buy the ideology that these players are not committed,” Asante Twum said. “I’ve not recovered from the shock. I cannot believe how poor we were on the day and how ordinary the team was in our game against Niger.”
The Black Stars’ disappointing September international break saw them suffer a 1-0 defeat to Angola before settling for a draw against Niger. These results have left Ghana’s hopes of qualifying for the 2025 AFCON in jeopardy, raising concerns among fans and pundits alike.
However, Asante Twum remains confident in the dedication of the players and is hopeful for a turnaround in the upcoming fixtures.
