Abdul Bashiru, serving as interim coach for Hearts of Oak, remains confident in his ability to rejuvenate the struggling fortunes of the club.
Stepping in temporarily for Dutch manager Martin Koopman, Bashiru has encountered a challenging start, winning only one of the five games under his charge, with notable losses, including an unexpected defeat to lower-tier side Nania FC in the MTN FA Cup round of 64 and a 3-2 setback against arch-rivals Kotoko last weekend.
Despite these setbacks, Bashiru maintains an optimistic outlook on securing the permanent coaching position.
During an interview with Akoma FM, he conveyed his earnest desire to be appointed as Hearts of Oak’s full-time head coach, affirming, “I sincerely hope to be appointed as Hearts of Oak’s full-time head coach because, without a doubt, I am the coach with the ability to turn the fortunes of the club around.”
Hearts of Oak faces a challenging season, currently occupying the ninth position in the league table with 16 points from 14 games.
Amidst a two-game losing streak following defeats against Kotoko and Aduana FC, they aim to reclaim momentum in the upcoming match against Nations FC this weekend.
