20-year old, Black Queens midfeilder Stella Nyamekye has signed for Norwegian club SK Brann from American side Gotham FC until 2028.
“I chose Brann because I believe in the project, and it will give me the best opportunity for my development and playing experience. Brann is a great team that is fighting for several titles, says Nyamekye.
For the past year, the midfielder has been under contract with Gotham FC in the American top league National Women’s Soccer League, but has been on loan to Fort Lauderdale United.
She has six appearances and one goal for the national team. She describes herself as a footballer as follows:
“I am a player with good overview, good ball control and I am creative in the final third. I can also contribute by both scoring goals myself and setting up chances for my teammates, she says.
She showed her goal-scoring prowess during her years in her home country, where, she scored 31 goals in 41 matches for Dreamz Ladies. She also has two goals in three matches for Ghana’s U20 national team.
“Stella is a player we have great faith in. She has good ball control and is strong one-on-one, and we believe she will fit well into the way we want to play. We are bringing in an ambitious player with great development potential, and we are looking forward to getting her in place, says sporting director, Lars Johan Myklebust.
Nyamekye is only in Bergen after she has been with Ghana in the African Championship.
