Dr. Randy Abbey has officially assumed the role of Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee, charged with the task of reviving the fortunes of Ghana’s senior national football team after their failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports, Dr. Abbey expressed optimism about his team’s potential to bring positive change to the Black Stars.
“It’s not about me; it’s about the team I work with,” he stated. “Fortunately, I have very competent members on the committee, and together, we will draw on our experiences to support the technical team and the players.”
The newly appointed management committee comprises a blend of experienced professionals:
- Stephen Appiah: Vice Chairman and Player Relations Officer, as well as a former Black Stars captain.
- Samuel Aboabire: Chairman of the Greater Accra Football Association, offering his administrative expertise.
- Moses Armah: Owner and financier of Medeama SC, overseeing operations and matchday activities.
- Richard Nsenkyire: Owner and financier of Samartex 1996, responsible for special duties.
With this team in place, Dr. Abbey is confident about tackling the challenges ahead. As he begins his tenure, expectations are high for the committee to steer the Black Stars back to success and restore their reputation as a force in African football.
