“I will lead an impeachment process against Kurt Okraku soon” – GHALCA Chairman Kudjoe Fianoo declares

Kudjoe Fianoo, Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), has revealed plans to initiate legal action and lead an impeachment process against Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku.

Fianoo expressed deep concerns over the current state of Ghanaian football, criticizing Okraku’s leadership for the significant decline in the sport’s quality since he assumed office. According to Fianoo, the national teams’ struggles to perform well in international competitions are directly linked to the GFA’s mismanagement.

“The system at the GFA has crashed, and change is overdue. Together with GHALCA, I will soon lead an impeachment process against Kurt Okraku to restore integrity and accountability to our football,” Fianoo stated in an interview with Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM.

Fianoo also pointed out the lack of transparency, particularly in financial management, as one of the key issues plaguing the GFA, sparking widespread criticism from football stakeholders.

Okraku has faced growing opposition from officials and fans, especially after the Black Stars’ recent 2-0 defeat to Sudan in the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, which has placed Ghana’s qualification hopes in jeopardy.

The Black Stars will take on Angola and host Niger in November 2024 for their final AFCON qualifying matches.
