In a revelation, the in-form winger Ibrahim Sadiq has shared that his mother played a pivotal role in supporting his decision to join Dutch giants AZ Alkmaar during the summer transfer window.
The former Ghana U17 winger completed a move to the Eredivisie side on transfer deadline day, securing a five-year deal after transferring from BK Hacken.
Sadiq has been delivering outstanding performances for the Swedish outfit, culminating in a memorable brace in his final game for the club on Thursday night before making his way to Holland to complete the transfer.
The Right to Dream Academy graduate emphasized the significant influence of his mother on his career decisions, stating, “It touches me that I make her proud with my career and my choices. Of course, I talked to her, and she supports me in chasing my dreams. She encourages me to follow my heart,” as he shared during his unveiling.
Sadiq is scheduled to join his new teammates on Friday, embarking on a fresh journey in the Eredivisie. The 23-year-old also expressed his excitement upon finalizing the move, describing it as a dream come true.
He stated, “It’s a great stadium. These are stadiums you want to play in. It’s like a dream come true for me. AZ really wanted me. That also gives a good feeling.”
The Ghanaian youth international showcased his impressive abilities last season, contributing 27 goals and eight assists, while helping his former club secure victories in the Swedish Allsvenskan and the Swedish Cup.
