Championship side, Leeds United is reportedly considering a last-minute move for West Brom’s Ghanaian striker, Brandon Thomas-Asante.
Stoke City made two offers, both up to £2.5 million, on Thursday, but West Brom turned them down. Now, Leeds United has entered the race and possesses the financial capacity to secure a deal.
According to information from Football Insider, Leeds United is currently “exploring” the possibility of a late transfer for Thomas-Asante, as per their sources.
Leeds is well aware of Thomas-Asante, who scored against them in a controversial manner during the 1-1 draw at Elland Road earlier this month.
West Brom is hesitant to part ways with Thomas-Asante due to their limited options in the striking department. He and Josh Maja are the only recognized forwards in the squad, especially since Daryl Dike is sidelined with an Achilles injury.
Both Maja and Thomas-Asante have dealt with minor injuries this month, at times leaving West Brom without a recognized forward.
Brandon Thomas-Asante, who joined EFL Championship club West Bromwich Albion on a three-year contract for a fee believed to be around £300,000 in August 2022, had previously turned down a move to Birmingham City.
In September 2022, Thomas-Asante marked his debut and netted his first goal, a dramatic 98th-minute equalizer for West Brom in a 1-1 home draw against Burnley.
In the current season, he has participated in three matches and scored two goals in the Championship.
