After securing his re-election as President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku has expressed his intention to reconcile with George Afriyie, his former competitor.
George Afriyie’s bid to challenge Kurt Okraku for the presidency was thwarted after he was disqualified by the Elections Committee for failing to provide the required number of signatures to support his candidacy.
Kurt Okraku received overwhelming support during the GFA Elective Congress in Tamale, where he stood unopposed. Out of the 124 eligible delegates, 120 participated in the election, with 117 voting “YES” in favor of his re-election, while only three voted “NO.”
In light of his victory, Kurt Okraku extended an olive branch to George Afriyie, emphasizing the need for unity within the Ghanaian football community.
He stated, “We can only build the Ghanaian game when we stay together. Everyone has a role to play in the game including my brother, George Afriyie. I will reach out to George and bring him back home. so George, wherever you are, we are one” he said after retaining his seat.
