Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus has shed light on his favored role on the pitch following his crucial goal in West Ham United’s 1-1 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League.
The 24-year-old, who registered his third league goal of the 2024-2025 season, expressed a preference for playing as an inside forward or inverted winger on the right flank, a position he believes showcases his strengths best.
Kudus marked his goal with a unique celebration, sitting on a traditional Ghanaian stool adorned with an elephant design. Explaining the gesture in a post-match interview, Kudus described it as a tribute to his heritage.
“I’m most natural on the right side, and that’s where the goal came from,” Kudus shared. “It’s always about contributing to the team, and I’m committed to learning and adapting to any role the coach assigns. But it felt good to score and share a piece of Ghana with the world through my celebration.”
Despite serving a five-match suspension earlier in the season, Kudus has already made 12 Premier League appearances, continuing to play a pivotal role for West Ham.
