Ghanaian winger Emmanuel Addai has revealed he is still patiently waiting for his first invitation to the Black Stars, despite enjoying an impressive spell with Azerbaijani side Qarabag FK.
The 22-year-old forward has become a key attacking presence for the club, earning praise for his pace, direct attacking style, and goal-scoring contributions. However, Addai admits he has yet to receive any communication from Ghana’s national team technical handlers.
Speaking to 3Sports, the winger said he remains calm about the situation and believes his opportunity will arrive at the right time.
“No, I haven’t had any contact yet, but I believe they’ve seen my performances. Everything happens in God’s time. I’m not in a hurry,” he said.
Addai emphasized that representing Ghana remains one of his biggest ambitions, driven by a strong emotional connection to the country.
“I really want to represent Ghana because I love my country. I grew up watching Ghana lose finals, and I want to help bring joy to my people,” he added.
The attacker has enjoyed a productive campaign since joining Qarabag, scoring three league goals and emerging as the club’s third-highest scorer domestically. Even after the team’s difficult UEFA Champions League exit against Newcastle United, Addai has continued to stand out as one of the side’s brightest attacking threats.
Beyond club success, the winger says his ultimate goal is to make a lasting impact for Ghana.
“I want to be remembered not just for playing abroad but for doing something meaningful for Ghana because I really love Ghana.”
For now, Addai remains focused on delivering consistent performances at club level, hopeful that his efforts will eventually earn him a place in the Black Stars setup.
