Ghanaian prodigy Jarell Amorin Quansah is overjoyed to have marked his debut for Liverpool on Sunday, August 27, 2023, during the remarkable 2-1 come-from-behind victory against Newcastle United.
With the Reds trailing 1-0 and Virgil van Dijk being sent off in the 77th minute, Jürgen Klopp made the bold move of substituting the 20-year-old Quansah in place of Joel Matip.
Quansah played a pivotal role as Liverpool orchestrated a powerful resurgence, securing victory through a double by Darwin Nunez.
Interestingly, Quansah found that the unexpected nature of his appearance actually played to his advantage, as it prevented any potential pre-match nervousness from building up: “Definitely,” he shared. “I’m normally cool anyway but it’s always easier when something is sprung on you and you have got the adrenaline running through your veins.”
Furthermore, the young defender, who inked a new deal with Liverpool in May following a loan spell at Bristol Rovers, is eager for any additional opportunities to showcase his skills at the senior level: “100 per cent. It’s what dreams are made of, a cliché but it’s so true. I’m ready for whatever comes.”
