Athletic Bilbao forward Inaki Williams has expressed his excitement about rejoining the Black Stars ahead of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
The former Spain international returns to the squad after missing several games, including the 2026 World Cup qualification matches against Mali and Central African Republic in June. Injuries also kept him out of the Black Stars’ international friendlies against Nigeria and Uganda in March.
Williams has not played for the Black Stars since their disappointing exit at the group stage of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
In response to a post on the official Black Stars page on X (formerly Twitter), Williams shared his enthusiasm, stating, “Happy to be back.”
The 30-year-old forward has joined his teammates in camp as they prepare to travel to Kumasi on Tuesday.
Williams, who made his debut for Ghana in September 2022, has earned 17 caps for the national team, scoring one goal so far.
Ghana will kick off their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualification campaign against Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Thursday, September 5, 2024, before traveling to Berkane, Morocco, to face Niger on Monday, September 9, 2024.
