Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has shared his excitement about playing alongside his Black Stars teammate Jordan Ayew, now that both players are at Leicester City.
Ayew, who made the move from Crystal Palace to Leicester City this summer on a two-year contract, has joined Issahaku at the club. The 30-year-old’s experience is anticipated to bolster Leicester City’s performance in the Premier League after their recent promotion.
Having already played together in the first four games of the season, Issahaku and Ayew will now team up again for the Black Stars in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
Speaking to the media during the team’s first training session on Monday, Issahaku expressed his admiration for Ayew, saying, “He [Jordan Ayew] is always a senior player and I love playing with him. He always guides and gives you more advice and even outside and inside [on] the pitch so I’m happy.”
Issahaku added that having Ayew as a teammate in both club and national team settings makes things easier for him. “I think it’s going to be easier for me playing with him both in the national team and club,” he said.
Ghana is scheduled to face Angola on September 5 at the Baba Yara Stadium, followed by a match against Niger on September 9 in Berkane, Morocco.
