Black Stars forward Brandon Thomas-Asante has described his second goal of the 2024-2025 season as “bittersweet” following Coventry City’s 2-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup.
Thomas-Asante scored in the 63rd minute, putting Coventry ahead and seemingly on course for a place in the fourth round of the competition. His goal came from a well-executed move, as he calmly slotted the ball into the bottom left corner of the net.
However, Tottenham staged a dramatic comeback with late goals from Djed Spence in the 88th minute and Brennan Johnson in the 92nd minute, securing their passage to the next round.
Speaking after the match, Thomas-Asante reflected on the result: “Winning games and scoring is what I want to be doing and I wanted a good performance coming into this game. So, I am happy to get on the scoresheet. Obviously, it is bittersweet because we wanted to come out of it victorious. It is a tough one to take.”
Coventry City, currently 14th in the EFL Championship, will face Swansea City on Saturday, September 21.
