Former Ghana international Dan Quaye has voiced strong disapproval of Black Stars defender Mohammed Salisu’s behavior following reports of a confrontation with Ghanaian journalists and fans after the team’s elimination from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
In an interview with Koforidua-based Bryt FM, Quaye criticized Salisu’s actions as “childish,” expressing disappointment that Salisu has not met expectations since joining the Black Stars. Despite acknowledging potential financial gains at Salisu’s club, Quaye asserted that, even at his age, he believes he is a superior player.
“Even at my age, I’m better than him. I just need to train and I’m good to go. You guys have broken the heart of Ghanaians, and when they pour out their frustrations, you give them rubbish and nonsensical responses,” Quaye remarked.
Highlighting the importance of the national team’s connection with supporters, Quaye reminded Salisu that success with the national team can propel players to greater heights.
He emphasized the need for players to respect fans’ expressions of concern, particularly in challenging times.
