Tariq Lamptey, the Brighton and Hove Albion defender, expressed his delight and described his experience with the Black Stars as “amazing.”
After completing his switch of nationalities to represent the West African country, the talented right back made his debut for the Black Stars in a friendly match against Brazil. Lamptey entered the game as a substitute in the 72nd minute, replacing Iddrisu Baba.
The match against Brazil was part of Ghana’s preparations for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Reflecting on his time with the senior national team, the former Chelsea player expressed his excitement and described it as a fantastic experience.
During an interview on Citi Breakfast Show, he said, “It was an amazing experience for me. We have a good team with most of the players playing in Europe, and the boys made it easy for me to come into a family environment. We enjoyed it. We know the potential of this team, and I am genuinely grateful.”
Lamptey was a part of the Black Stars squad that competed in the World Cup and received praise for his impressive performances despite Ghana’s early exit from the tournament.
However, due to an injury that has kept him out for several months, Lamptey is expected to be omitted from the Black Stars squad for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Madagascar.
