David Ocloo, the head coach of Hearts of Oak, acknowledged that his team lacked the mental strength required to stage a comeback in their narrow defeat to Legon Cities at the El Wak Stadium on Sunday, May 28, 2023.
The Phobians conceded a goal in stoppage time of the first half, as Kofi Kordzi found the bottom corner of the net, beating goalkeeper Atta.
Despite their efforts, Hearts of Oak were unable to find an equalizer, and the Royals held on to secure a 1-0 victory, handing Hearts their third consecutive defeat.
Speaking to StarTimes after the match, Ocloo admitted, “The truth be told, Legon Cities wanted it more than us, especially in the first half. They ran more and controlled the game well. It’s unfortunate.”
He further noted, “In situations like this, you need character, and we lacked that character today.”
With 45 points, Hearts of Oak currently sit in 8th place in the league standings. They will now turn their attention to their upcoming home match against RTU.
