Ghana international Antoine Semenyo has once again been subjected to racial abuse online following Manchester City’s commanding 3-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The 26-year-old forward delivered an impressive performance across the full 90 minutes, playing a key role in City’s dominant display. However, what should have been a moment of celebration quickly turned sour after he shared a post on Instagram.
Semenyo was met with a stream of racist comments, prompting a frustrated reaction from the forward, who wrote: “It’s started again…” — highlighting the recurring nature of the abuse.
This marks the second time this season that the Ghanaian has been targeted, having previously suffered similar attacks following his former side AFC Bournemouth’s defeat to Liverpool in December.
Despite the off-field challenges, Semenyo continues to thrive on the pitch since his high-profile £64 million move to Manchester City in January. He has been in outstanding form, scoring 15 league goals, winning the Carabao Cup, and establishing himself as a key figure in the squad.
The latest incident once again shines a spotlight on the persistent issue of racism in football, particularly on social media, where players continue to face abuse regardless of their performances or achievements.
Support has poured in from fans and teammates following Semenyo’s post, with many condemning the abuse and calling for stronger action against offenders.
For Ghana, the forward remains a vital asset ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the Black Stars—now under the guidance of Carlos Queiroz—will face tough group stage opposition in England, Croatia, and Panama.
