Black Stars captain, Jordan Ayew, has assured President John Dramani Mahama that the team is determined to bounce back and deliver positive results in their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Ghana is set to face Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday before traveling to Morocco to take on Madagascar in their Matchday five and six encounters.

The senior national team struggled throughout 2024, managing only two wins in ten matches. However, following Mahama’s visit to their training session on Wednesday, the President encouraged the players to rise to the challenge.

Ayew acknowledged the team’s recent struggles but expressed confidence in their ability to turn things around.

“It’s a big sign that you’re here supporting us. We know we’re in a tough situation, but we’re not afraid. We will turn things around on Friday, so you can relax. We’ll do the job for the nation,” he assured.

Having missed out on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) for the first time in two decades, the Black Stars are eager to make amends by securing a place in the World Cup.
