Ghanaian striker Jordan Ayew made his Leicester City debut in their 2-1 defeat to Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday afternoon.
Ayew, 32, joined the Foxes on Friday on a two-year contract from Crystal Palace. Head coach Steve Cooper introduced Ayew in the second half, bringing the former Swansea City and Aston Villa forward on as a substitute.
Ayew replaced Bobby De Cordova-Reid on the left side of Leicester’s attack, where he made an immediate impact with a dribble and completed 83% of his passes.
Fulham opened the scoring in the 15th minute through Emile Smith Rowe, but Leicester responded in the 38th minute with an equalizer from Wout Faes, ending the first half level at 1-1.
However, Fulham regained the lead in the 70th minute, thanks to a goal from Alex Iwobi, which proved to be the match-winner. Despite Ayew’s contributions, Leicester was unable to find another equalizer, allowing Fulham to hold on for the victory.
Ayew will be looking to secure a starting position in Leicester’s upcoming fixtures, including their EFL Cup tie against Tranmere and a Premier League encounter with Aston Villa at the King Power Stadium.
