New Leicester City striker Jordan Ayew has praised his fellow Ghanaian, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, for making a significant impact at the club.
The 32-year-old Ayew shared his admiration for Fatawu after joining Leicester on a two-year contract from Crystal Palace during the ongoing summer transfer window.
Fatawu Issahaku made his Premier League debut in Leicester’s 1-1 home draw against Tottenham Hotspur on Monday, following the completion of his permanent transfer from Sporting CP.
Speaking about Fatawu, Ayew expressed his pride in the young attacker’s achievements. “I’m really happy for him because he has done really well since he first came in, and I’m really proud of him,” Ayew remarked. “Obviously, he’s young and he has more years ahead of him, but I’m here to help not only him but everyone.”
With 275 Premier League appearances to his name, Ayew is confident in his ability to quickly adapt to life at Leicester, both on and off the field. He emphasized the importance of teamwork and using his experience to guide younger players.
“We have experience, and we need to help the younger ones, but I expect them to help me as well; it’s teamwork,” Ayew said. “As a player, when you come into a new club, you want to settle down and make sure that everyone is happy.”
Ayew is determined to make a positive impact at Leicester City, focusing on contributing to the team’s success and ensuring a strong season. He acknowledged the challenges ahead but expressed confidence in the team’s potential.
“The most important thing is that, as a club, we do what it takes to have a great season,” Ayew noted. “We’ll have to fight as a team, and we’ll have to make sure that we give good performances to get results.”
Jordan Ayew is set to make his debut against Fulham on Saturday.
