Ghanaian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana has officially joined Italian side Atalanta Bergamo and says he’s thrilled to begin a new chapter with the Serie A club.
The 23-year-old completed his move from English club Southampton earlier this month and was unveiled on Thursday by the 2024 UEFA Europa League champions. He signed a four-year contract with the Italian outfit.
Speaking at the press conference, Sulemana expressed confidence in his decision to move to Italy.
“I’m very happy for this opportunity. I want to thank the Percassi family, Sporting Director Tony D’Amico, and coach Ivan Jurić,” he said. “When Atalanta showed interest, I didn’t hesitate. Their recent success speaks volumes, and I believe this is the ideal place for my growth.”
Sulemana also spoke of his excitement about competing in the UEFA Champions League for the first time in his career and reuniting with coach Jurić, whom he briefly worked with at Southampton.
“I admire his mentality and work ethic. I’m young and eager to learn, and this is the perfect environment for that,” he added.
During his time with Southampton, the Ghana international made 74 appearances, featuring in both the Premier League and the Championship.
Atalanta fans are hopeful that Sulemana’s pace and creativity will bolster their squad as they prepare for a demanding 2025–26 campaign in both domestic and European competitions.
