Kelvin Osei Asibey, the new signing for Hearts of Oak, is determined to begin the upcoming betPawa Premier League season with the club, despite the ongoing dispute raised by Eleven Wonders regarding his ownership.
Last week, Hearts of Oak officially announced the acquisition of Kelvin Asibey from Eleven Wonders, a center-back who played for the Access Bank Division One League side. The deal was for a three-year contract, with the option of extending it for an additional year.
In response to the announcement, Andrews Fosu Antwi, the Chief Executive Officer of Eleven Wonders, asserted that Asibey still belongs to their team. He stated that until they publicly confirm the player’s departure, Accra Hearts of Oak cannot utilize him, not even for training purposes. He also expressed openness to consider other offers for the player in a recent interview.
“Until you see Thank you Kelvin Osei Asibey on our official page [Eleven Wonders], Accra Hearts of Oak cannot use the player, he can’t even train with them.”
“We are ready to listen to other offers for the player,” said the burgeoning CEO in a recent interview.
Despite the ongoing controversy, Kelvin Asibey took to Facebook to reveal that he has already commenced his personal pre-season training at the Gym center, fully focused on being prepared for the upcoming betPawa Premier League 2023/24 season with Hearts of Oak.
“I have started my personal pre-season training at the Gym center for upcoming betPawa Premier League 2023/24 season.
During the 2022/23 season, Asibey had an impressive performance with Eleven Wonders in the Division One League. He played a pivotal role in guiding the team to the final of the Zone One playoff. Unfortunately, they missed out on promotion to the Premier League after a penalty shootout defeat against Bofoakwa Tano.
Throughout the 2022/23 Division One League season, the center-back featured in 25 league games, showcasing his talent by scoring two goals and providing seven assists. He was also recognized with six man of the match awards, including one in the playoff against Bofoakwa.
Looking ahead, Hearts of Oak is scheduled to begin their preseason training in the opening week of August, gearing up for the upcoming season, which is set to kick off soon.
