Man United youngster Kobbie Mainoo has enjoyed an excellent few weeks and he’s been linked with an international call-up.
Manchester United youngster Kobbie Mainoo is focusing on his form for his club, despite the growing conversation about whether he should represent England or Ghana on the international stage.
Mainoo, has broken into Erik ten Hag’s first-team and has started every United game in 2024, which has coincided with the team going unbeaten and rising up the league table.
The midfielder scored the winning goal in the 4-3 victory against Wolves earlier this month and his strong performances have led to suggestions he could have an outside chance of making the England squad for this summer’s European Championship in Germany.
However, the Manchester Evening News report that Mainoo is focusing on United and he’s currently weighing up his options about whether to represent England or Ghana. Stockport-born Mainoo has represented England throughout the Three Lions’ youth system and is eligible to represent Ghana through his parents.
Mainoo regularly visits Ghana, he is proud of his family roots and is keeping his options open, but a source close to the player suggested he’s been advised to lean toward England. It’s understood the 18-year-old will not make a decision on his international future until it’s required and his priority is to continue to keep on working hard and progressing for United.
