Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, is placing his faith in God as the Black Stars push for qualification to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana, a dominant force in African football, is set to resume its qualifying campaign this month. The Black Stars will host Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, before heading to Morocco to face Madagascar on March 24, 2025.
Adams, who attended the team’s first training session on Monday, expressed his strong desire for Ghana to secure a place in the prestigious tournament.
“For qualification, I need it just as Ghanaians do, and I know the players also need it. The coach himself has told me he also needs qualification,” he stated.
“Qualification is like the air that we are breathing, and that’s how badly I need it. That’s why you’ve seen me here regularly. I want everything in order for this game. We are all working towards that, and I know God will smile on us.”
Ghana has struggled in recent competitions, failing to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. This marks the first time in over 20 years that the Black Stars will miss the continental tournament after finishing at the bottom of Group F.
After this disappointment, the team is determined to redeem itself in the World Cup qualifiers by securing crucial victories against Chad and Madagascar.
Currently, Ghana sits second in Group I with nine points, level with leaders Comoros. Securing maximum points in the upcoming matches will be essential in strengthening their bid for a place in the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
