“Kotoko should have collapsed the Hearts team by a four-goal margin” – Stephen Manu

Former Asante Kotoko striker, Stephen Manu, has expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance following their thrilling 1-0 victory over Hearts of Oak in their Ghana Premier League matchday 13 fixture on Sunday.

The Porcupine Warriors were heading toward a draw, but Albert Amoah’s dramatic injury-time goal in the 90+5′ minute sealed the win for Kotoko, lifting them to cloud nine as they secured their sixth win of the season after 13 rounds.

While Kotoko triumphed in the end, Manu believes the team was dominant from start to finish. He noted that Hearts of Oak only posed a threat in the early stages of the match.

“Kotoko dominated Hearts of Oak, who have been in fine form. They should have beaten Hearts by a four-goal margin if they had been more clinical. Kotoko could have overwhelmed Hearts by scoring more, but a win is a win,” Manu told Kessben FM.

He further expressed his belief that Kotoko has what it takes to win the Premier League this season: “For sure, no doubt. I’m convinced Kotoko can win the Premier League considering their performance in the Super Clash. They can win the league hands down if the right things are done.”

The victory saw Asante Kotoko rise to sixth place on the league table with 21 points, while Hearts of Oak dropped to seventh with 19 points.

Kotoko will next travel to face bottom dwellers Dreams FC at the Tuba AstroTurf in Accra on Saturday, December 21, for their matchday 14 fixture.
