Premier League side Leeds United has reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign defender Ethan Ampadu.
The Championship club will pay £7 million ($9.1 million) for the 22-year-old centre-back, with additional add-ons included in the permanent deal.
A medical examination will be conducted shortly to finalize the transfer.
Ampadu, who can also play in defensive midfield, has had four loan spells from Chelsea since his arrival from Exeter in 2017. He spent the last season at Spezia, making 31 appearances in Serie A for the relegated side.
Prior to that, he had temporary stints with RB Leipzig, Sheffield United, and Venezia. Despite being a Wales international, Ampadu has made only 12 senior appearances for Chelsea.
Now, he is set to make a permanent move away from Stamford Bridge during the summer transfer window.
Ampadu’s father, Patrick Kwame Ampadu – is an assistant coach at American club Columbus Crew and featured in over 100 games for Swansea City during the 1990s.
