The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has held an intensive safeguarding training program for participants in the ongoing GFA License D Coaching Course, a critical component required for certification. This initiative underscores the GFA’s commitment to ensuring that all children and young players can participate in football within a safe and abuse-free environment.

The first of these capacity-building sessions was conducted at Opoku-Ware Senior High School for coaches from Women’s Division One League Clubs and Colts Clubs in the Ashanti Region.

Led by GFA Safeguarding Officer Obed Tuffour, the Safeguarding training has been extended to the License D Course participants in the Eastern Region held at the All Nations University.

The session aimed to educate participants on the importance of creating a safe and enabling environment for children, young players, and other vulnerable individuals within the sport.

Participants were enlightened on the FIFA safeguarding policies and the crucial role they play in the development of young football talents. The training emphasized the need for coaches to be vigilant and proactive in protecting the well-being of their players.

This safeguarding training is set to continue across various venues in the country, targeting coaches from Women’s Division One League clubs and Colts clubs.

The sessions will be continue at the Regional Football Associations from August 13 to September 4, 2024, ensuring that all coaches are well-equipped to uphold the highest standards of safety and care in their respective clubs.

The GFA’s safeguarding initiative is part of a broader effort to foster a nurturing and protective environment within Ghanaian football, allowing young players to thrive and develop their talents free from harm.
