Ghana’s women’s national football team, the Black Queens, have successfully progressed to the next round of qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic Games, set to be hosted in Paris, France.
In the African qualifiers for women’s football representation at the Olympics, the Black Queens have demonstrated outstanding performance.
In the first leg of the second round of qualifiers held last Friday, the Black Queens triumphed over Benin with a convincing 3-0 victory in Benin. Today, the second leg of the tie took place at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Despite having home advantage, the Black Queens of Ghana faced a challenging first half and struggled to find the back of the net. However, they turned the tide in the second half, applying significant pressure on Benin.
In the 65th minute, striker Evelyn Badu broke the deadlock, ensuring a narrow 2-0 victory for the Black Queens at the conclusion of the 90-minute match. The second goal came as an own goal from the opposition.
With an aggregate score of 5-0 in their favor over Benin, Ghana’s Black Queens have successfully advanced to the third round of the African qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic Games.
