FC Samartex continued their remarkable home form, securing a 1-0 victory against Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko.
This triumph marks the fifth consecutive home win for the Sameraboi club in the ongoing season.
From the outset, Samartex assumed control of the game, with the initial opportunity falling to Baba Hamadu Musah, who, unfortunately, couldn’t convert.
Nevertheless, Emmanuel Keyekeye stepped forward and netted a spectacular free-kick in the 30th minute of the first half, registering his third goal of the season. The midfielder, formerly with Asante Kotoko and Karela United, has been enjoying an outstanding campaign.
Despite a tense moment for Kotoko in the 37th minute due to a defensive lapse by Samartex’s Ebenezer Acquah, the ball was successfully cleared for a throw-in.
The second half witnessed Samartex’s dominance, with close calls for doubling their lead in the 66th and 68th minutes. The home side exhibited defensive resilience, foiling any attempts by The Porcupine Warriors to breach their home ground.
Asante Kotoko struggled to make an impact or pose a goal threat in the second half, leading to their second consecutive defeat under Coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum this season.
With this triumph, Samartex ascended to the second position on the league table with 16 points, while Asante Kotoko maintains the 15th spot with 10 points after week 10 of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League.
