Ghana’s Black Princesses emerged victorious in the Women’s Football tournament at the 2023 Africa Games, claiming the coveted championship title in a thrilling showdown.
In an electrifying match held at the Cape Coast Stadium on Thursday, March 21, 2024, Ghana showcased resilience against formidable opponents Nigeria, who secured an early lead through Edeh Njideka’s 23rd-minute goal.

Undeterred by the setback, Ghana’s Tracy Twum found the back of the net in the 77th minute, leveling the scoreline and propelling the game into extra time after the regulation 90 minutes.
With fervent support from the home crowd, Ghana surged ahead in extra time, seizing control of the match with a decisive goal by Abdulai Mukarama.
Mukarama’s strike in the 99th minute sealed Ghana’s victory, culminating in a hard-fought 2-1 triumph over Nigeria, clinching the gold medal for the host nation.
As the 13th Africa Games draws to a close on Saturday, March 23, 2024, Ghana anticipates further success in the men’s football tournament. The Black Satellites are poised to contend for gold as they face Uganda in the finals of the Men’s Football event.
