On Sunday afternoon in match week 23 of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League, Bibiani GoldStars narrowly defeated Samartex 1996 1-0 at Dun’s Park.
Evans Owusu’s 70th minute goal secured the win for the hosts and earned them 3 points. This victory takes the Gye Nyame lads to fourth place on the league table, level on points with Hearts of Oak, who lost to Karela United in a heavy defeat over the weekend.
Samartex, on the other hand, dropped from 9th to 11th after the loss and remain on 30 points. Despite the win, the home side could move down if Asante Kotoko beats Medeama SC later in a game to be played in Kumasi.
Bibiani GoldStars will play their next game away at Tarkwa against Medeama SC, while Samartex 1996 will play as hosts to Akyem Kotoku Royals at Nsenkyire Sports Arena in Samreboi.
