Hearts of Oak have re-entered the Ghana Premier League title race with a crucial home victory against Accra Lions.
The team’s chances of winning the ongoing 2022/23 campaign have been affected by their inconsistent performance.
In a Week 24 league match held at the Accra Sports Stadium, Hearts of Oak faced off against their capital city rivals. Although both sides had several opportunities to score in the first half, neither could convert them.
During the second half, both teams battled fiercely to gain the upper hand. In the end, Linda Mtange’s goal secured a narrow 1-0 victory for Hearts of Oak and dashed Accra Lions’ hopes of a comeback.
Following this win, Hearts of Oak has climbed up to the third position on the Ghana Premier League standings, trailing Aduana Stars, who are currently at the top, by just three points.
