Premier League Champions Medeama SC will do battle with FA Cup holders Dreams FC in the Champion of Champions at the Cape Coast stadium on Sunday, September 3, 2023.

The Champion of Champions which precedes the 2023/24 betPawa Premier League season features Ghana’s campaigners in this season’s CAF Inter club competitions.

Medeama SC are through to the final round of qualifiers in the CAF Champions League where they will square off with Horoya Football Club of Guinea for a spot in the Group stage whiles Dreams FC also aim for a Group stage appearance after going past Milo FC in the preliminary round of the Confederation Cup.

League Champions Medeama SC defied the odds by eliminating Remo Stars FC on penalties after settling for a 1-1 draw over two legs. Both sides (Medeama SC and Dreams FC) are raring to go – and would fancy their chances in the Super Cup on Sunday.

Daniel Lomotey is the latest addition to the Medeama SC squad having already signed Osah Bernadinho Tetteh and Zimbabwe forward Kudakwashe Mahachi ahead of the campaign. The mauves and yellows also have in their stables, Vincent Atinga, Derrick Fordjuor, Godknows Dzakpasu, Kamaradini Mamudu, Richard Akrofi, returnee Benjamin Bature and goal poacher Jonathan Sowah.

Coach Augustine Evans Adotey is hoping to defend the League title and also make an appearance in the Group stage of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League. But knows these accomplishments won’t come without a fight.

John Antwi is the poster boy of Dreams FC following a stellar career abroad – spanning 10-years. The former Eleven Wise FC forward who had spells in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, is noted for his achievements as the all-time highest foreign scorer in the Egyptian Premier League (78) and the all-time foreign scorer in all competitions with Egyptian clubs (102) goals.

The attacker has returned home to bolster the Dreams FC squad for both the domestic campaign and this years Continental assignment. John Antwi made one assist and scored the match winner in a 2-1 win over Milo FC to take Dreams FC to the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup having conceded an early goal in Accra.

Other notable names in their squad include Sylvester Simba, Agyenim Boateng Mensah, Ishmael Dede, Gael Avocenou, Godfred Attuahene, Ebenezer Adade and highly rated shot stopper Solomon Agbasi.

The Champion of Champions which is scheduled for 6pm kickoff will take place at the Cape Coat stadium on Sunday, September 03, 2023.

Serving as Ghana’s Super Cup, between the previous season’s Premier League champions (Medeama SC) and FA Cup winners (Dreams FC), the Champion of Champions is regarded as the “curtain-raiser” for the new season.

In a related development Cape Coast Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs will play against city rivals Cape Coast Venomous Vipers in a curtain raiser at 3pm.
