Tarkwa-based Medeama SC has secured a major commercial boost after AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine unveiled a USD 200,000 headline sponsorship agreement for the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season. The partnership replaces Nguvu Mining as the club’s principal sponsor and strengthens Medeama’s financial and commercial foundations.
The official signing and announcement took place at the TNA Stadium in Tarkwa, coinciding with Medeama’s 1–0 victory over Hearts of Oak, which saw the Mauve and Yellow finish the first half of the league season at the top of the standings.
Speaking at the ceremony, AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Managing Director Daniel Boadi emphasized that the sponsorship is an extension of the company’s mission to empower communities.
“Simply put, this is our commitment to development and to empowering the people in our host communities,” Boadi said.
“Our single purpose is mining to empower people and to advance societies. What you see here today is part of that purpose — as simple as that.”
He added that the partnership aligns with the company’s long-standing approach to community engagement and social investment.
“We have always remained committed to the development and empowerment of our host communities, and this partnership with Medeama Sporting Club is a clear reflection of that commitment,” Boadi said.
The one-year agreement, which is renewable, formally makes AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine the headline sponsor of Medeama SC, providing financial stability and supporting the club’s long-term ambitions on and off the pitch.
