Millwall FC have officially secured the permanent signing of London-born Ghanaian winger Benicio Baker-Boaitey from Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion.
The 21-year-old makes the move to the Championship club after spending the first half of the season on loan at League Two outfit Port Vale FC.
Baker-Boaitey has signed a long-term contract with Millwall, becoming their sixth acquisition of the January transfer window. The club expressed their excitement in an official statement, saying, “Millwall Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Benicio Baker.”
Sporting director Steve Gallen also shared his enthusiasm about the new signing, describing Baker-Boaitey as “an exciting prospect” with impressive speed and technical ability. He noted that the young winger’s experience in the Premier League, along with his recent loan spell, will be crucial in his development.
Having joined Brighton from FC Porto in 2022, Baker-Boaitey has yet to break into the first team but featured 14 times for Brighton’s U21 side this season.
Although he has represented England at youth level, the winger remains eligible to play for Ghana’s national team through his heritage.
