Vancouver Whitecaps have finalized a deal to sign US international Emmanuel Sabbi from Le Havre AC for a transfer fee of just over €1 million, according to Foot Mercato.
Sabbi, born in Schio, Italy, to Ghanaian parents, moved to the United States at a young age, where he developed his skills at Ohio Premier Soccer Club in Columbus, Ohio. His professional career took him to Europe, where he signed for Odense Boldklub in Denmark before joining Le Havre in 2023 for a similar transfer fee.
In his first season in France, Sabbi played 33 matches, scoring five goals and registering one assist, becoming a key player for the team. However, his situation changed after head coach Luka Elsner left the club in the summer. Under new manager Didier Digard, Sabbi has struggled for game time, mostly appearing as a substitute and failing to register a goal or assist this season.
With this move to Major League Soccer, Sabbi has an opportunity to revive his form and take on a fresh challenge with Vancouver Whitecaps.
