Ghana Premier League legend Charles Assampong Taylor has made a bold statement, asserting that Mohammed Kudus is a superior footballer compared to Brazil and Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr.
Kudus was a standout player for West Ham United last season, scoring 14 goals and providing six assists in his debut campaign with the Hammers. His performances were instrumental in helping the team reach the quarterfinals of the UEFA Europa League. Kudus also set a record for the most successful dribbles in a single Premier League match against Chelsea and finished the season as the best dribbler in Europe.
In contrast, Vinicius Jr. played a crucial role in Real Madrid’s successful season, helping the team secure both La Liga and UEFA Champions League titles. Despite Vinicius being a strong contender for the Ballon d’Or, Taylor believes Kudus is the more talented player.
Speaking on Angel TV, Taylor stated, “Kudus is a better footballer than Vinicius Jr. If Kudus were at Real Madrid, he’d be the main man in the team. The quality that Kudus displays, Vinicius doesn’t match up. But we don’t believe in our own players, and the lack of quality pitches here holds them back.”
Taylor, who was one of the most exciting talents in the Ghana Premier League from the late 1990s to the early 2000s, was part of Hearts of Oak’s famous 64 Battalion that won the treble of the Ghana Premier League, FA Cup, and CAF Champions League in 2000. He later made a controversial move to rival club Asante Kotoko, where he continued to shine.
As the new season unfolds, both Mohammed Kudus and Vinicius Jr. will be back in action for their respective clubs in the Premier League and La Liga. Fans and pundits alike will be eager to see how their performances compare.
